From 21 June to 3 July, DT-HATS Doctoral Candidate Tommaso Baffetti attended two summer schools focused on combustion science and its emerging research directions.
The first was the Summer School on Combustion and Environment, organised by Princeton University and The Combustion Institute in Princeton. The second was the first in-person summer school of the DT-HATS MSCA Doctoral Network, hosted by Prof. Michele Battistoni and his team at the Università degli Studi di Perugia.
The lectures covered a wide range of topics, from internal combustion engines to machine learning-based reduced-order modelling, providing valuable insights for Tommaso’s current PhD research.
During both events, Tommaso presented his ongoing work on a physics-aware PCA framework for reactive flow dimensionality reduction and had the opportunity to meet researchers from both the DT-HATS network and the broader combustion community.
Tommaso thanked the organisers, lecturers, as well as his supervisors, Prof. Alessandro Parente and Prof. Alberto Procacci, for their support and for the opportunity to participate in these events.
