From 28 to 30 September 2026, DT-HATS doctoral candidate Pratik Tiwari from the Université d’Orléans attended the 5th Ammonia Symposium in Santiago, Chile, hosted by the Millennium Institute on Green Ammonia as Energy Vector (MIGA).

During the symposium, Pratik delivered an oral presentation entitled “Different injection strategies of direct injection of liquid ammonia in Internal Combustion Engine and Its emissions”, presenting his experimental research on ammonia-fuelled internal combustion engines.

His work investigates how injection pressure, injection strategy and injection timing influence the performance and emissions of a single-cylinder spark-ignition engine fuelled with directly injected pure liquid ammonia. The study also considers different engine load conditions by varying the intake pressure.

This research contributes to DT-HATS’ broader work on advancing low-carbon combustion technologies and exploring the potential of ammonia as an alternative fuel for future transport applications.

We thank the organisers of the symposium for the opportunity to present this work, as well as Pratik’s supervisor, Prof. Christine Rousselle, for supporting his research and participation in this international scientific event.
