Prof Grazia Lamanna is an Academic Director and Deputy Head of the Institute for Aerospace Thermodynamics at the University of Stuttgart, where she leads the Multiphase Flows and Diagnostics Group. She received her M.Sc. from the University of Napoli “Federico II” and holds a Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology. Her research focuses on fluid dynamics and non-equilibrium thermodynamics in high-pressure fluids, with applications in propulsion and energy systems. Specifically, she develops advanced diagnostic methods to investigate: 1) flash-boiling in superheated (cryogenic) sprays; 2) non-equilibrium condensation and evaporation processes in multi-phase systems; 3) fluid disintegration and mixing at both low and high pressure conditions.
What is your motivation to join DT-HATS?
Cutting-edge research and training of doctoral students on key technologies go hand-in-hand to drive innovation forward. The project DT-HATS follows this approach systematically, aimed at the development of enabling technologies for the decarbonisation of the heavy-duty transportation sector. I am really enthusiastic to be part of such an international, interdisciplinary, and collaborative consortium that fosters collaboration among experts in the field with young scientists involved in a variety of pioneering projects.
